How will it work?

 · You will continue to work.

· You will still earn a paycheck. The company cannot change your wages or working conditions.

· All benefits, including health care, will remain in effect.

· The grievance procedure continues, but arbitration will not.

You have the legal right to participate in “concerted activities.”You can mobilize on the job, wear buttons, leaflet and do information picketing.

Mobilization is more important than ever. Our Strength in bargaining comes from a strong visible mobilization. Make sure the company knows that we stand together behind our bargaining team.

WEAR RED. Display signs at your cubicles, lockers, and Union bulletin boards. Do workplace actions, informational picketing, and rallying.

Letter from the Officers about Healthcare if on strike

Dear Members,

In the event of a strike out health care benefits will be in effect until the end of that current month. If we went on strike on April 14 you would have coverage until April 30th.  If you or your dependents have necessary ongoing, chronic or emergency medical treatment, during the strike please contact Linda Burns at 216-635-4340. Local 4340 will assist you in submitting medical bills and cobra information to CWA National. The Robert Lilja Members Relief Fund director will be responsible on the handling of those bills.  Please review the following rules for Health Care Benefits during a strike. Please contact the union hall with any questions. Thank you.

 Health Care Benefits During Strikes shall be paid from the RLMRF

• The term “necessary” does not include any treatment not normally covered under the employer’s health plan, nor does it include any care such as elective procedures or dental visits that can be postponed until the end of the strike.

 • Whenever an employer stops healthcare coverage during a strike and the Local’s Community Services Committee decides that it is prudent to pay COBRA on behalf of the striker, then the COBRA form and necessary justification (doctor’s prognosis, medical bills etc.) must be attached to the disbursement voucher and available for inspection.

 • Strikers must still pay healthcare premium contributions as well as any deductibles and copays that existed before the strike. The concept being that no one should have a better benefit during a strike than that which was in effect before the strike.

 • It is the responsibility of the Local’s Community Services Committee to attempt to get the healthcare provider (doctor, dentist, hospital, etc.) to accept as full payment an amount less than that which was billed. A notation of this attempt must be made in that strikers’ record.

  • All bills submitted for payment must contain all the necessary information (name of patient, date of treatment and service rendered).

 • Strikers who can obtain health care coverage through other sources, such as a spouse’s health plan, should rely on those sources during the strike.

2015 CWA Local 4340 AT&T Midwest and Legacy T Bargaining Contract Expiration 

We are coming close to the AT&T contract expirations dates and we need to prepare!  The company has refused to bargain with CWA District 4 on almost every issue we bring to the table. Our retired and current members have helped build this company to where it stands today as one of the most profitable communication companies in the world.  Our members deserve good wages, benefits and retirements! We earned them!

If you have not filled out your DFR- Striker Certification Form Click Here, or please see a Union Steward as soon as possible.  Please fill out the form and fax it to the hall at 216-635-4350. This form needs to be received at the union hall before we can issue any strike duty payments to our members.

Strike Duty rosters have been distributed and posted on the Union bulletin boards, you can also Click Here to see a copy of the roster.  Please check the roster and if you don’t see your name, contact your Picket Chief or call the hall at 216-635-4340 for your picket duty assignments.  In order to receive strike pay you must picket 8 hours a week.  There will be sign in sheets at the picket locations, please make sure you sign in to receive strike duty payments. Strike duty payments are as follows:

Commencing on the fifteenth (15th) day of a strike, $200.00 per striker per week will be provided (subject to availability of funds) for use by the Local for strikers' assistance. Commencing on the twenty-ninth day of a strike, $300.00 per striker per week will be provided (subject to availability of funds) for use by the Local for strikers’ assistance. Commencing on the fifty-seventh (57) day of a strike, $400.00 per striker per week will be provided (subject to availability of funds) for use by the Local for strikers’ assistance. Payments to Locals will end on the seventh day following the conclusion of the strike. In the event the last week of a strike is not a full week, the payments to the Locals shall be prorated.

In the case of a strike health care benefits will continue through the end of that month, example; if a strike was called on April 12, 2015, you will be covered under AT&T benefits until April 30.  We realize that some of our members may have continuing, chronic and possibly emergency medical treatment that is necessary even during a strike. Please contact Linda Burns at the union hall 216-635-4340, so arrangements can be made for health care costs.

AT&T Paying $25M to Settle US Action Over Data Breaches

WASHINGTON (AP) - AT&T is paying $25 million in a settlement with federal regulators over data breaches at call centers in Mexico, Colombia and the Philippines that compromised customer data for some 280,000 U.S. customer accounts.

The Federal Communications Commission announced the agreement Wednesday with the second-largest U.S. wireless carrier. It was the agency's largest privacy and data-security enforcement action to date.

The breaches occurred from Nov. 4, 2013 to April 21, 2014 at a call center in Mexico, from Feb. 14 to July 14, 2014 in Colombia and from May 20 to December 2014 in the Philippines, the FCC said. Most customers were Spanish-speaking U.S. residents.
